On 16 September, the Grade 10 GEOGRAPHY, BUSINESS STUDIES & LIFE SCIENCES students visited the Beachwood mangroves and golf course as part of their curriculum extension on ecology. This allowed the pupils to experience concepts taught in class in a natural environment. The aim was to compare the productivity of a hectare of indigenous mangrove forest with a hectare of the Beachwood Golf Course. See photos.
On 29 October the Grade 11 Life Science and Geography students will visit the Marianhill Landfill site as part of their curriculum extension on human impact on the environment. The tour entails the visiting of bird hide, wetlands, nursery and prunit area, recycling and then the landfilling process.
