Endangered Species civvies day

Our school is hosting a Civvies Day to raise awareness for endangered animals and the importance of wildlife conservation. Learners are encouraged to come dressed according to the theme of endangered species by wearing animal prints/colours, or creative outfits inspired by animals at risk of extinction such as rhinos, turtles, pandas, or tigers. This fun and educational event aims to inspire students to learn more about protecting vulnerable species and caring for the environment. Through participating, learners can show their support for conservation efforts while celebrating the beauty and diversity of wildlife around the world.

Beach clean-up Initiative

Our learners  took part in an exciting and meaningful beach clean-up on 16 May, where they worked together to help protect our beautiful coastline and marine life. Equipped with gloves and refuse bags, the students collected litter such as plastic bottles, wrappers, and other waste that can harm sea creatures and pollute the ocean. The experience taught learners the importance of environmental responsibility and showed how small actions can have a big impact on keeping our beaches clean and safe. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to caring for the environment.

World Endangered Species Day

World Endangered Species Day is a powerful reminder that many of our planet’s incredible animals, birds, and plants are at risk of disappearing forever. From majestic rhinos to tiny sea turtles, endangered species play an important role in keeping Earth’s ecosystems balanced and healthy. Our prep school students can help protect these amazing creatures by learning about conservation, reducing waste, and supporting efforts to preserve natural habitats. Every small action can make a big difference in safeguarding our world’s precious biodiversity for future generations.

To celebrate this special day, students are encouraged to take part in the World Endangered Species Poster Competition! This is your chance to use your creativity to raise awareness about endangered animals and inspire others to care for our planet. Look out for the information poster around the school or in the library or look out for the next post...

Earth Day

A big thank you to Raha and Phumla for the presentation they delivered on Earth Day!  You reminded us all of the importance of caring for our planet and shared simple but powerful ways we can make a difference every day. From reducing waste to protecting nature, your message inspired us to think more carefully about our actions. Well done on an informative and meaningful presentation, we are proud of you for helping to spread such an important message!

Our Grade R learners had so much fun celebrating Earth Day with a special craft activity all about our beautiful planet! They created colourful Earth-themed artworks. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing awareness of the importance of looking after our planet from such a young age. Well done, Grade R!

The Grade 1s also celebrated Earth Day with a lovely craft activity. What a special way to learn about our planet and how we can look after it!

Planting Week Update

A big congratulations to two of our eco Edenites who successfully completed this term’s Planting Week Challenge by planting their very own Spekboom! Your effort and care for the environment are truly inspiring, and every plant makes a difference in helping our planet thrive.

Komal can even be seen proudly standing beside a Spekboom from the school, planted about seven years ago. It is a wonderful reminder of how these incredible plants grow and flourish over time. It’s amazing to see just how much of an impact a single planting can have.

Well done on helping create a greener future Iyla and Komal!

We look forward to seeing everyone else's completed planting week challenges as well.

Diving Deep: Our Ocean Conservation Journey

This year, our prep school is setting sail on an exciting adventure that takes us beneath the waves and into the heart of one of the most important ecosystems on Earth: the ocean.

Our 2026 eco theme is the Ocean, and together, we’ll be exploring how we can protect and care for our blue planet.

To make this journey even more exciting, each class will become a submarine crew, diving deeper into the ocean as they complete eco-friendly challenges throughout the year. These challenges might include:

  • Reducing plastic use
  • Participating in clean-up efforts
  • Saving water and energy
  • Learning and sharing facts about marine life

Every positive action earns your class points, helping your submarine descend further into the ocean depths.

Our progress will be tracked on a special Ocean Depth Board, displayed for everyone to see. The more points your class earns, the deeper your submarine dives—from the sunlit surface waters all the way down to the mysterious deep sea!

Will your class reach the twilight zone? Or even the midnight zone? There’s only one way to find out…

Oceans cover more than 70% of our planet and play a huge role in keeping Earth healthy. They provide oxygen, regulate the climate, and are home to incredible biodiversity. Unfortunately, they are under threat from pollution, overfishing, and climate change.

Every challenge completed is a step toward a healthier ocean and a deeper dive for your class submarine!

Every small action makes a big difference, and by building your own recycling stations you’ve taken an important step toward caring for our planet. Well done to all who participated, you’ve set a fantastic example for our school.

Beach Clean-Up

This weekend, our school community swapped their usual Saturday routines for buckets, gloves, and plenty of enthusiasm as students and parents came together for a fantastic beach clean-up.

Armed with gloves and reusable bags, our volunteers worked tirelessly to remove other debris from the beach. It was incredible to see pupils of all ages taking responsibility for protecting our local environment and understanding first-hand the impact litter has on marine life.

Beyond the bags of rubbish collected, the morning was filled with teamwork, laughter, and a shared sense of purpose. Parents and students worked side by side, showing that caring for our planet is something we can all do together.

Beach clean-ups are about more than tidying up, they are powerful reminders that small actions make a big difference. Every piece of litter removed helps protect wildlife, reduce pollution, and keep our coastline beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time to take part. Your efforts truly reflect our school’s commitment to sustainability, community, and positive action.
